And what is good, Phaedrus,
And what is not good—
Need we ask anyone to tell us these things?

Solstice’s Eve
The winter solstice, which occurs around December 21 or 22 in the Northern Hemisphere, marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. It has been celebrated by many ancient cultures as a turning point when light begins to return, symbolizing renewal and hope.
Early Christians did not originally celebrate Christ’s birth. When they began to mark it, the Church likely chose December 25 to align with and replace existing solstice-related festivals. This strategy helped ease the transition for converts by blending Christian and pagan traditions.
